As
we end 2016, the NCRL Board wanted to provide an update on our
fundraising efforts to light Carson Raymond Field. Buoyed by the
efforts of our players and families during last Spring’s “Line Drives
for Lights”, we have secured a total of $45,000 towards the project.
This is half of what is needed to complete the project.
In addition to our fundraising efforts, we applied for a grant through
MLB’s Baseball Tomorrow Fund. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is a joint
effort between MLB and the Major League Players Association. The fund
awards grants to organizations involved in the operation of youth
baseball and softball programs and facilities.
Earlier this month, we were notified that NCRL was one of the finalists
for this grant cycle. If approved, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund grant
will cover the remaining funds required to complete the project. We
expect a decision on our grant in late January.
We would have not been able to get this far in the process without the support of the NCRL community. Thank you!

Does Your Company Reward Your Volunteer Hours?
Are
you a full-time coach or do you help out at your kids practices, have
you worked in the concession stand, or have you helped with Opening Day
or the Skills Challenge?
If so, your company may consider that time "volunteer hours" and will make a donation to support the Northside Cal Ripken League. Often times employers will donate money on behalf of their employees who give time as a volunteer for certain non-profit organizations.
For example, State Farm will donate $500 on behalf of their employees who give at least 40 hours of volunteer service to non-profit organizations.
If you have given volunteer time to Northside, please check with your employer to see if they make any type of donations for this activity.
