Line Drives for Lights Hitting Marathon and Fundraiser!

Earlier this year, NCRL received approval from Albemarle County to install lights on Carson Raymond field at Hollymead Elementary School.   The installation of lights will allow us to expand our field availability by 450 hours a year and improve the quality of our player’s experience.

With a goal to have the lights installed for our Fall Season, the NCRL Board is actively pursuing major donors within our Community.   In addition to these efforts, we have focused our Spring player fundraiser on building awareness to our campaign.

Following our games yesterday, all players received a fundraising packet providing details on our “Line Drives for Lights” Hitting Marathon and Fundraiser.  The event will be held in conjunction with our “Day of Champions Festival”  on June 5th.  All players in our Major, Minor, Rookie and Jr. Rookie divisions will be participating in the event.

Our player fundraiser goal is to raise $25,000 of the $100,000 needed to light Carson Raymond Field.  We have asked each player to seek financial donations to support their participation in the event.   All donations large or small will help us get closer to lighting Carson Raymond Field.  We have some great prizes to recognize the efforts of our players.

Below is a link to our fundraising website:

Your support of “Line Drive for Lights” and NCRL is greatly appreciated.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,

Gene Murray
NCRL Fundraising Coordinator

2016 All-Stars Tryout Information

**Please check for changes that occur to the schedules due to weather related rescheduling/field changes**

The tryouts for Northside All-Stars teams are coming up!  Please read the following information carefully to determine the team(s) your player may be eligible to try out for and the dates for sandlot practices and tryouts.

It has been brought to our attention that some families are confused as to what divisions their children are eligible to play for All-Stars.  Our organization sets May 1st as the age cutoff for all our tournament/All-Star teams.

Your child's age, according to league baseball is however old they were on May 1st, 2016

Example:

  • If your child was born on May 7, 2009, then his/her league age would be 6 (even though today s/he is actually 7).
  • If your child was born on October 5, 2005, then his/her league age would be 10.
Children may "Play Up", meaning that a child who is league age 9 may try out for the 9u and 10u teams.  The Board strongly recommends that players who are trying out for a team that is older than their age group also try out for their own age group.  If a child tries out for an older age group and does not make the team, s/he is NOT automatically considered for the younger team, too, unless explicity trying out.

Please contact the coach of each team you are interested in being considered for. Players may try out for multiple age groups or may "play up" to an older age group's team.  Players must show up for age group tryouts for all teams they wish to be considered for, which may mean multiple tryouts.

The Baseball Company is offering a Spring Break Camp

THE BASEBALL CO.
SPRING BREAK CAMP
Join The Baseball Company for our annual Spring Break Baseball Camp for ages 7-12!
This year's camp is April 4th-8th from 9am-12pm at McIntire Park.
In this camp, we will be using group and individual based instruction for all skill levels and abilities within certain age restrictions. No matter if it's your first year getting to know the game or you are a seasoned veteran, our camp has something to teach you. Dividing the groups into different skill levels, mainly by age, we will first start learning perfect fundamentals before moving on to more advanced techniques within the game. We will be covering everything from proper warm-up, hitting techniques, fielding, pitching and catching.
A number of our instructors from The Baseball Company will be running this camp. They are more than qualified to work with any player, regardless of skill level or position. We understand that building a solid foundation must be accomplished before adding more advanced techniques and thought processes to attain a high level of play.
Each day a new schedule and new drills will emerge to keep the interest level peaked to encourage a positive learning environment. At each days end we will also play controlled games on the field for the players to show off the new skills they have learned in a real time game environment with real situational game play.
Please join us at McIntire Park, and get in those extra reps to aid in your players continued success this season.
Limited spots available!

Beginner Tball Coach Needed!

Attention All T-ball Parents
We are excited to start our T-ball season; however, we are still in need of one more volunteer coach to lead a Beginner T-ball team.  We would really like to hear from you if you can spend one hour per week during the evening time to lead a practice and one hour on Saturday mornings to facilitate/coach the actual game.  No prior coaching experience needed.  If you are unsure about what or how to teach the game, we can help you.  The joy and smiles you will bring to these younger ones will last a lifetime. Please email Steve Yow, T-ball Commissioner, at steve00yow@gmail.com as soon as possible, if you would like more information or would like volunteer.  Thanks for making Northside a great baseball experience!
